Welcome to the Salem Playhouse!

Formerly known as The Bridge at 211, we’re emerging with a new name, renewed energy, and a bold vision for the future.

In partnership with the Olde Essex Stage Company – a nonprofit grounded in the rich tradition of storytelling – we hope to cultivate artistic excellence, engage the community, and bring new life and purpose to our historic building through a wide range of future programming.

As we continue to shape this next chapter, we’re actively working behind the scenes to put the right processes and infrastructure in place to support event hosting and space rentals. While we’re not quite ready to begin taking bookings just yet, we look forward to sharing more as our plans come together.

Looking to the future, we envision the Salem Playhouse as a mid-sized, multifunctional performing arts and education space with strong community partnerships and accessible programming.  Insights from our recent adaptive reuse study, supported by community feedback, show that this vision is both realistic and within reach.

The Salem Playhouse building is a cornerstone of Salem’s rich history, and our dedication to its preservation is unwavering. Since becoming a nonprofit in 2016, we’ve been committed to the arts, to community, and to creating a welcoming space for cultural connections – and that commitment remains strong. Our spaces, named for individuals significant to the building’s history, will also remain unchanged.

To our longtime supporters – thank you.

And to our new friends – welcome!

We’re so glad you’re here.
